First and foremost, did we jump the gun here with all the Autumnal excitement? Is it me or is False Fall hanging around a little longer than usual? I recently suggested as much to my dad who politely reminded me that it was 78 degrees on my parents wedding day in Vermont 40 years ago and that if there’s one thing you can count on in New England it’s unpredictable weather. Fair enough, but that doesn’t take the sting out of still not being able to put away all the warm weather pieces in my closet and fully lean into the fun of layering that comes with crisp days and chilly evenings. While the heavier knits and more robust jackets may have to wait, there is at least one element of the Autumnal wardrobe that can be fully embraced ahead of a sustained drop in temperature, footwear.
