Typically I’m not one to be surprised by the quick passage of a particular period of time. Sometimes a long drive seems to fly-by thanks to good conversation or an engaging podcast. Likewise a long haul flight can turn into the closest thing to actual time travel, provided you’re able to nod-off just after departure and wake during initial descent, a rare achievement that I’ve only accomplished a handful of times. Being surprised that it’s already been X amount of time after Y widely recognized cultural marker? You lose me there. Based off conversations I’ve had or overheard this past week, I am apparently in the minority when it comes to this. “Can you believe it’s already Labor Day Weekend?”. Yes…I can. I made a proper meal out of the past 3 months and savored every moment of it. I’m not the same person I was Memorial Day Weekend and I expect I’ll be somebody else by New Year’s Day(IN 4 MONTHS!) because that’s how time works.
